Meeting and exhibition venue

The meeting and exhibition will be held at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the oldest Catholic university in the world still in existence, founded in 1425.
The meeting site in and around the Falcon college is situated in the middle of the historical city centre of Leuven and within walking distance of most accomodation.

Letter of invitation

The organisers will be pleased to send a formal letter of invitation to any individual requesting one.
It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential participants to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply a commitment from the congress organisers to provide any financial support.
Letters of invitation may be requested from the congress office.

Visa

Belgium is part of the European Union. Many visitors can enter EU countries without a visa (Schengen countries). Participants who require a visa can readily obtain it from the Belgian Embassy in their home country.

Insurance

The Meeting fee does not include insurance. All participants should arrange for their own insurance.
Health and accident insurance is recommended and has to be purchased in your country of origin.

Language

The official language of the meeting is English. In Belgium, there are three official languages: Dutch and French are the main languages. German is spoken by a small segment of the population. English is widely understood and spoken, especially in a university town like Leuven.

Climate

In August, the average maximum temperature is 22° C. Hot summer weather with temperatures above 25° is not uncommon, but it may also cool down and rain for short periods.

Policy Statement
The Organizers of ECM23 observe the basic policy of non-discrimination and affirm the rights of scientists throughout the world to adhere or to associate with international scientific activity without restrictions based on nationality, race, colour, age, religion, political philosophy, ethnic origin, citizenship, language, or sex, in accordance with the Statutes of the International Council for Science. At this conference there will be no barriers which would prevent the participation of bona fide scientists.
